Since its inception in 1971, BG Products has committed to maintaining vehicles through high quality automotive maintenance services. BG Products itself is ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025 and ISO 45001 quality certified. A major part of this involves ongoing testing and evaluation.

BG Products' Research and Development laboratory, certified to ISO 17025 for the validity of its testing, has 12 specialised technical, chemical and automotive staff. This team is working on identifying the challenges that modern automotive engine design and emission devices bring and developing solutions, primarily restoring power and economy whilst reducing emissions.

Cummins ISM engine test shows maintained soot control through ASTRATECH^TM PA04 treatment.

Oils with effective soot control particle suspension properties keep soot dispersed as fine particles, enabling proper lubrication to occur. In the results from this test, the Cummins ISM Injector images demonstrate less oil thickening, greater wear prevention of critical engine components following treatment with PA04. Poorly formulated oils let soot clump together, thickening oil and preventing vital lubrication.

MOT Smoke Test Results across two vehicles show less smoke being emitted after treatment with ASTRATECH^TM PA07 during Service.

The first table shows that at only 200 miles after the Service, the emissions from the Passat have decreased by 33%.

The second table shows that one year on the Vectra’s emissions have decreased by 86%! The maximum allowance for the  Vectra to pass is 1.50 m-1. These test results show that the Vectra under that figure by an outstanding 97%.

A very important component to keep clean on a modern engine are the Injectors. In modern engines these are exposed to high temperatures and high pressures. This leads to deposits inside the injector and on the exposed pintle. These deposits interfere with the critical spray pattern of the injectors.

The photos below show an injector before and after ASTRATECH^TM PA07 treatment. The deposit build up (on the left hand photo) is interfering with the proper atomisation of the fuel. In this case we have a jet instead of a conical mist. In the right hand photo, the deposits have been removed and so optimal spray pattern and effective timing is restored.
